Graduated in Business Administration from the La Salle University of Mexico with a specialization in Human Resources Strategy from Harvard University, she is certified as an International Life & Leadership Coach by the ILC Academy.

She mentors women in the WoomUp program and is Vice President of the board of the Chilean-Australian Chamber of Commerce (AUSCHAM), sponsoring the Innovation and Gender committees.

Sofía worked at Orica as VP of Human Resources for Latin America, based in Santiago Chile; At Kantar Millward Brown he was responsible for the Human Resources area for Europe based in London and for Latin America based in Mexico City; Previously at AstraZeneca she held Human Resources management roles in the UK, USA and Mexico. Her extensive experience in different continents and industries has given her a global perspective.

Currently, as Vice President of People and Organization at Anglo American, she is part of an exciting purpose that seeks to reimagine mining to improve people's lives, promoting work environments and an inclusive and diverse culture, leading organizational transformation projects, talent management and development to encourage and support high performance and innovative thinking.

As a Human Resources leader, she believes that people are vital to the success of the business and seeks to inspire them to deliver sustainable value that makes a real difference, ensuring a successful and responsible operation.

She was president of the Board of Directors of Auscham between 2020 and 2023, being the first woman to hold that position.
