Senior career official of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He previously served overseas as High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam and as Deputy Head of Mission at the Australian Embassy in Chile.

Currently, he is married to a Chilean woman, with whom they have two Chilean daughters.

Additionally, he has a Master's degree in International Studies from the University of Sydney; a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Sydney; and a Graduate Diploma in Arts from Monash University.
