Commercial and New Business Manager
Pares & Alvarez
Biography
With over 27 years of professional experience, Andrés Jara took over as Commercial and New Business Manager at Pares&Alvarez in 2017, a position he holds to this day. Over these eight years, he has driven the company's internationalization, leading the opening of Pares&Alvarez Peru in Lima in 2020, a location currently employing over 40 people, and PA Engineering in Perth, Australia, where a group of Chilean engineers has been working for almost two years to integrate the company into the Australian mining ecosystem. He currently serves as General Manager of both subsidiaries and, in both Australia and Peru, led three due diligence processes for the acquisition of local companies (one in Peru and two in Australia).
At the national level, Andrés Jara has demonstrated his leadership in Pares&Alvarez's commercial area, consolidating the company as a trusted and recognized engineering provider in the mining and other industries. Throughout his career, he has led teams of more than 100 people and, as a sales leader, regularly attends international trade shows and conferences such as PDAC in Canada, IMAC in Australia, and the Hydrogen Summit in the Netherlands. He has also generated over US$300 million in business in the mining sector.
Initially, he was part of the Consulting department, where he led more than 400 projects, primarily in the areas of project evaluation, market research, investment estimating, process optimization, basic and detailed engineering, contract preparation and administration, bidding document development, and negotiation.
Among his technical achievements, he served as Project Manager for the implementation of an EPCM Target Price for CMPC Maderas' Plywood plant between 2011 and 2013. This initiative involved estimating the investment to expand its facilities and double its production, increasing from 240,000 m3 to 500,000 m3 of boards per year without stopping operations and incorporating new technologies.
He currently serves on the boards of Pares&Alvarez and Susterra, and between 2018 and early 2020, he served on the board of the Chilean Association of Engineering Consulting Companies.
